around christmas time my friend kelli wrote an article giving some great advice on taking pictures of your kiddos (check it out here)

this and that
lately there are several little-sharable-tidbits, but none that merit a whole post so here we go:
1) kead and sayla are "sleeping" in the same room now, but it has only lasted the whole night once so far. One girls coughs or makes some noise, which wakes up the other girl and 30 minutes to an hour later we are sleeping again, with sayla in her pack-n-play and kead in her room.
2) the one night that sayla slept in the nursery all night she had found her thumb and was SO content sucking on it that I had to get her up at 9:00 to feed her. she will be a thumb sucker for sure!
3) we are in our new building for redeemer and I am thrilled to have drew back!
4) kirst and burke are coming on wednesday and I can't wait. we have been singing the burkey baby song for days in preparation.
5) after my post about hating warm weather we had one crazy snow day and then temperatures shot right back up to normal. it was a nice snow day though!
6) kelli had asked how to post pictures like the ones of sayla in this post and oman in this post. Its really simple: when you upload an image under the "choose a layout" section- choose "none" and then you can postion the pictures as you please after they are uploaded. (there may be an easier way, but that's how I did it...)
7) wedding season is coming up and we are busy making invites for some brides. I love wedding season. be sure to check our kojo blog coming up soon for the goodness! (of course after the vacay with kirst there will be some new creations too!)
8) a little school update: even though I got into south plains I did not go this semester. the kids day out didn't have a spot for sayla and things were crazy with getting the new building... so, I will be going next semester.
9) kead has been saying so much lately. my favorites are: "I'm a mess!", "sayla, wash your hands." and "daddy at work...love you!"
10) also about kead- lately she LOVES to pray. mostly for her friends hays and max. she asks five or six times a day if we can pray. I think she is using it as an excuse to not eat or to postpone bedtime...she's a smart little girl because of course we aren't going to tell her no she can't pray. it's still really sweet though.

be totally honest...
Thankfully for the most part I am back into my pre-pregnancy clothes, but there are some clothes that still don't fit quite like they use to.
Well today I spent some time looking at the shirt I was wearing in the mirror before determining that it was, indeed, ok to wear again.
I came out of my room and the first thing Kead said when she saw me was "woah! boob!"
I guess I'll just tuck that shirt away until we're done nursing.

Baby K laughing at her papa! My pictures folders are in alphabetical order and this one comes from the folder "b.v.". That's short for buena vista, where my dad is from and grandpa still lives (you may remember from this post that it is my favorite place on earth). This was taken in buena vista when we all went to visit my grandpa for labor day 2007.

i am grateful. i am grateful, i am grateful
I am saying it like a mantra until it sticks. I have to admit that lately I have been super annoyed by life. I just realized this morning though that all the things I am annoyed by are ridiculous and that I need to have an attitude of gratefulness for them.
So here are a couple things that I am trying to be grateful for:
1. the weather. It is "gorgeous" outside. 71 degrees currently, according to the weather channel. I know that for some of you stuck in the north pole (ahem-trish) this sounds glorious.
my selfish response: But I LOVE the cold weather and we haven't had winter yet! a couple days of sweater weather and that's it!
grateful response: Wow, how nice to not be cooped up inside with two little ones. Its great to be able to go to the park, keep the doors open and not have to worry about what to dress the girls in.
2. Providers Pantry. This is a program that gives seriously discounted food to anyone who wants to sign up, and for us- its free! Someone has anonymously signed up our entire staff for the last two years! (we get one box of food a month)
my selfish response: I want to be able to buy my own food and not have to plan meals around the low-grade, low-quality meat that we get every month. It is such a hassle to have to boil the fat out of the ground beef, cut the grizzle off of the chicken and try to come up with inventive ways of using items I would never buy.
grateful response: It is SO nice (especially in this economy) to have such an abundance of food available for FREE! Thanks to the person(s) who have been such a blessing and saved us so much money! So what if I don't know what to do ribbettes and don't get to buy my favorite brand of blueberry muffin mix? How wonderful to not have to worry about having food and how great to always have enough to make dinner for friends too!
3. Our new church buliding. On January 5th we closed on our first facility for redeemer church.
my selfish response: ugh! I hate how much time this is taking. Drew eats, sleeps and breathes building projects. He is up there all the time getting stuff ready, coordinating work days and working on things himself. Although it is looking MUCH better, there is still SO much to do and not enough money to do it all.
grateful response: WHAT A BLESSING to be in a building that is (except for cosmetic repairs) functional and ready to be moved into! How great it will be to have a permanent facility that we can use during the week, not have to haul all of our equipment to every week and just call our own! Who cares if the carpet is different in everyroom and the kitchen has ugly cabinets?
4. Staying home.
my selfish response: I feel like I am loosing my identity! There is so much I want to do and how am I suppose to do it with little kids running around all the time? I miss being jordan- apart from being keadryn and sayla's mom.
grateful response: it is truly amazing that while so many people have to work in order to make ends meet, Drew's job allows me to be able to stay with our kids. I don't have to be in a job I hate just to get a paycheck but get to be raising my girls. AND- we can afford to put Kead in KDO 2 days a week so that I get some alone time with Sayla and Kead gets some much needed time with other kids. What a privelage!
I am sure there are more, these are just things i found myself being grumpy about today! Yikes. Pray with me that I will have a more grateful attitude for the blessings in our life!

sweet spirit
Tuesday mornings I have a date with this little sweetie. Drew takes Kead to KDO and I grab Sayla, she eats and then we cuddle...sometimes we don't even get out of bed until 10:00. It is such a special time for me to get to know her sweet little personality. She just melts my heart! She has such a sweet and gentle spirit, she is a delight to be around and she giggles and smiles at anyone who pays attention to her! I love this little bear!

family sick
ways I know Kead is missing being around the family:
* whether in a magazine, picture on our wall, a book etc. ANY picture of a girl, including pictures of me, she points to and says "TISH" (aka- aunt trish)
* she asked for papa to change her diaper today. I would have let him.
* she found my baby sling this morning, put it around her neck and walked around the house yelling "Booooke...he go?" (Buuurke....where did he go?) over and over again.
* we have a book called "pat's pizza" and when we read it kead says "pat pat pat" over and over again, pointing to the little italian man with his big mustache...haha.*
* We sing a silly song about the denver zoo (thanks to kirst) frequently around here. This is how it goes- I sing and then kead comes up with an animal we see at the zoo and then we make the noise the animal makes together. Cute. BUT- today it went like this:
- me- "its the denver zoo for me and you and..."
- kead- "TAI!" (aka Lita, aka my mom)
...no noise making...I don't know what sound a Lita makes. :)
it was a lot of fun to have so many people who just adores the girls around for so many weeks and it makes my heart melt that she recognizes their names and faces!
